Hosting Your Own At‑Home Mini Art Retreat

Learn how to create a soulful, inspiring mini art retreat at home to recharge your creativity and reconnect with yourself.

Starting a home art retreat only takes intention and a few simple supplies.. Here’s how to turn your space into creative sanctuary:

1. Clear a Creative Corner

Find a special nook or corner desktop. Add a candle, your favorite supplies (sketchbook, pens, watercolors, brushes), maybe an image or artwork that inspires you.

2. Set a Gentle Schedule

Determine your timeframe and arrange a loose rhythm: paint, journal, walk, rest—simple and nourishing.  Nourish yourself along the way with your favorite foods or snacks.  Your retreat might last a whole weekend, or maybe just an afternoon.  That’s completely up to you.

3. Limit Distractions

Let loved ones know you’re on a retreat, silence notifications, and let stillness be your co-creator.  Don’t be afraid of some silence, at the very least for a few moments at the beginning and end of your retreat time.

4. Choose a Theme

Pick a prompt or technique you’re curious about and lean into it.

5. Close with Reflection

End with a candle and a few written notes. What did you learn? How did you feel?
