Auspicious Antigua

The week is finally off to a wonderful start.  Our guests, many of whom opted to arrive early, have been getting to know this amazing town and learning their way around.  Today a procesión occurred in our neighborhood as part of the Lenten celebration.  

It’s all a lot to take in!  We could smell the incense first….. then could hear the music and a few of us here at the posada ran outside to find them.  Here is what we encountered.

Here and here are some footage from the day.  The first from this afternoon when we first went to find them, and the second from later this evening when they came near to our posada and I popped out the door (careful not to lock myself out!) and filmed a bit.  They go all day every Sunday during lent, and then many more days during the Holy Week of Easter.  It’s a lot of incense and noise and peopling, and also a fascinating glimpse into culture here.
