I’ve been watching posts from @kakawdesigns and

I’ve been watching posts from @kakawdesigns and @cardamomcollective in recent days as they experience the colorful culture of the Guatemalan countryside through the lens of #textiletravels.

Their gorgeous photos of Antigua and beyond have me feeling super excited about my own trip there next year where I’ll be hosting a small group of travel journalers. In our workshops we will learn how to slow down this rich travel experience by engaging a small book where we will collect drawings, do some watercoloring and gather overall impressions of our time together.

I can’t say enough about how working in a travel journal enriches the experience of traveling. As we begin to revisit this brave new world of ours once more, consider a new approach to traveling. Learn a bit of basic drawing and painting. Learn to really see what’s there. Slow down and truly engage in a country other than your own.
Beginners welcome (in fact I really love working with beginners! )

Just a bit of light and color and a dose of whimsy (like walking the goats down the street, say for example) can do the trick.
